Digital Movie Example Projects:
The Digital Movie category is an opportunity for you to express your opinions and creativity through a short film. Hop into the director's chair and create your own cinematic masterpiece! Projects will be evaluated on such concepts as storyline, cinematography, and storyboarding. Example Projects: Documentary, Public Service Announcement, Commercial

Graphic Design Graphic design is the process and the art of combining text and graphics to communicate an effective message through the design of logos, graphics brochures, newsletters, posters, signs and any other type of visual communication.
13
Graphic Design The Challenge:
Your challenge is to create a marketing campaign to promote the benefits of recycling around your school and throughout your community. Projects submitted in the graphic design category require the following:
14
Graphic Design Recycling Logo: The logo will be the main identifying factor for your campaign and will affect how the rest of your marketing materials will look and feel. It should be something that inspires positive action and can be adapted to multiple types of media. To clearly distinguish your logo it should be displayed separately on a standalone print copy.
15
Graphic Design 2. Campaign Poster: Your recycling campaign poster should be a direct call to action. It should include the types of items to be recycled (plastic, paper, electronics, etc.) using layouts and colors and font choices complementing the logo design and staying true to the campaign's concept. Your poster should include factually accurate information as well as local recycling contact details.
16
Graphic Design Other Marketing Materials: Your project must also include at least two other branded items that will be used throughout your campaign such as business cards, letterhead, stickers, promotional displays, signs, and apparel, etc
17
Graphic Design Example Software Photoshop, Sumopaint
18
Graphic Design Rules The graphic design project must be in printed form. No computers or access to electricity will be allowed Spelling and grammar will be judged on narrative and project Your project will be DISQUALIFIED if: The narrative description is missing Copyright information and credits are not included on the narrative and displayed with the project A step-by-step planning document is not included with the project
19
Programming Projects entered into the Programming category must be based on the following scenario: Create a mobile application that solves a real world problem that is appropriate for all ages using iOS or Android platform. Use your imagination! The project must be displayed on either a mobile device or a mobile OS-emulator such as those provided with Apple's Xcode or Google's Android SD
20
Programming Pseudo Code:
All projects need a pseudo-code listing that shows the algorithmic solution to the programming problem. This listing should be specific and detailed enough to give the judges a good idea of how your program works. Also, the pseudo code should demonstrate that the programmers worked from a well thought out plan. You may choose to put it on your tri-fold display or bring a loose-leaf notebook with your notes. The pseudo code will not be judged for grammar or appearance, but should be legible and organized. The pseudo code is REQUIRED for this category. Projects without it will not be judged.
21
Programming Coding Conventions
Indenting: Code should be indented consistently and meaningfully. Consistency: Braces, parentheses, operators and function names should be used in the same manner throughout the code base. If this code extends an existing project, the style guidelines from the parent project should be respected. Inline comments: Comments should be written to sufficiently explain complex code blocks so that others can understand the algorithm in use. Organization: Code and other assets (images, videos, style information, etc.) should be logically organized within the project.
22
Programming Example Languages
Java, JavaScript, HTML5, Swift, PHP, Ruby, etc Projects MUST contain a pseudo code listing Projects must be displayed on a mobile device or OS emulator. Spelling and grammar will be judged on narrative and project. Directions for re-launching the project must be provided, as well as any passwords. (May use narrative)
23
Programming A project will be disqualified if any of the following occur: The narrative description is missing. Copyright information and credits are not included in the narrative or displayed with the project. Pseudo code is not displayed/available that clarifies the operation of the project.
24
Web Page Design Example Projects Example Software Rules
Jim Thorpe Olympians Web Site, Import Motor Sports, Hanover High School Guidance Website, AP Biology Example Software HTML editors, FrontPage, Dreamweaver Rules Spelling and grammar will be judged on narrative and project Directions for re-launching the project must be provided, as well as any passwords. (May use narrative)
25
Web Page Design Your project will be DISQUALIFIED if:
The narrative description is missing Copyright information and credits are not included on the narrative and displayed with the project A step-by-step planning document is not included with the project
26
Copyright You MUST use the website “Creative Commons” to search for ANY photos, music, etc. that you would like to use in your project if you do not create them yourself!
27
Planning Document (Storyboard or Flowchart)
All projects need to display the process used to create the project. This should be specific and as detailed as possible to give the judges the necessary background regarding how it was developed. You may choose to put it on your tri-fold display or bring a loose-leaf notebook with your notes The document will not be judged for grammar or appearance. Tri-fold displays are not judged, they are for clarification purposes only. Get photo releases signed from everyone in your project in any media format
