Start With: Who knows someone who has been impacted by cancer? Who has heard of the Ulman Cancer Fund or their 4K for Cancer and Team Fight programs? Briefly explain the Ulman Cancer Fund Mission: We change lives by creating a community of support for young adults and their loved ones impacted by cancer by using our four values as our support and foundation. Be Human - We believe that people, perspectives, and teamwork matter. Be Better - We constantly strive to be better. Be Courageous - We courageously drive change. Be Committed - We take ownership of our work

3 What is the 4K? Cycle or Run 4,000+ miles cross country.
Inspire hope to those impacted by cancer. Unite communities so that no young adult faces cancer alone. What is the 4K? The 4K has 6 teams of year olds who run or cycle across the country every summer, uniting communities along the way who have been impacted by cancer. 4K participants fundraise a minimum of $4,500 for UCF before embarking on this journey of a lifetime. (Feel free to add anymore basic information about 4K that you wish to share). Explain the motto of the 4K! Cycling or running from coast to coast, over 4,000 miles to support UCF and the cancer community. Inspiring hope to those impacted by cancer, and endure the journey across the United States, just as patients endure the battle with cancer. Uniting communities across the country in the fight against cancer, and perform community service at hospitals and cancer centers across America.

6 Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults
Changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. UCF’s initiatives Scholarships Patient Navigation Cancer to 5K UCF House Example of slide introduction/explanation: “UCF’s mission is to ‘change lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer.’ Here are some ways that UCF makes a difference in the lives of these young adults. The money fundraised by 4K participants supports these various initiatives and others supported by UCF.” UCF Initiative Explanations (you do not have to explain all of these in depth, but I provided the info below for your reference): Scholarships - UCF has a national scholarship program, where we award college scholarships to young adults impacted by cancer. 4K participants review their applications, and they get to present a scholarship or two to a recipient on their trip. (Include your personal experience) Patient Navigation - Patient Navigators are similar to social workers within the hospital setting - they are there to help cancer patients through treatment Cancer to 5K - A 12-week training program for cancer survivors. Cancer survivors train with a group of other survivors and alongside a volunteer sherpa. They train for a goal race that the group runs together in. A way for them to take their body back after their cancer diagnoss. UCF House - Similar to a Ronald McDonald house or Hope Lodge, the UCF House will house young adult cancer patients that are coming to Baltimore from afar for treatment. The house will have around 8 individual family suites, therapy rooms, kitchen (with volunteers that will sign up to cook lunch, dinner, etc., a patio, and more) Continue by explaining the connection of the 4K to UCF - describe how on the 4K journey you will distribute scholarships and chemo care bags, meet patients, and tour cancer centers. Explain the Bone Marrow Drive you held prior to your 4K trip. Refer to our website for more detail on services of UCF (

7 My Story: {Explain your run/ride team and why you ran/rode - include pictures or show a video here, etc.} Explain your story and how you found the 4K, why it matters to you, why you rode/ran, and what you gained from it, etc. Please keep the photos/videos appropriate - remember you are representing UCF!! - But by all means feel free to have some fun with this slide & make it engaging & interesting for your audience.

8 Leadership Opportunities
Each team has... Two Directors Mission Coordinator Multiple Leg Leaders Media Coordinator Each team has different leadership opportunities. This is a great way to be more connected with the team and the communities you go through, and it is an awesome addition for when you add your 4K experience to your resume. If you wish - explain the positions briefly Two Directors - leads the team; communicates between the team and the 4K for Cancer Program Coordinator; attends a director’s retreat to have a better idea of what to expect on the trip Mission Coordinator - helps 4K program coordinators arrange the team’s service days on their trip Leg Leaders - work towards arranging hosts and meals for the team on their trip Media Coordinator - we have recently added the Media Coordinator position, who essentially will manage the twitter account, be in charge of photos sent to program coordinators, maintain the social media policy among the team, send suggested posts to program coordinators while on the road, etc. Check out the leadership guide: to familiarize yourself if you need to! (You can also send guests this link if they were curious about learning more) Most fun + impactful internship you’ll ever have.
