4 Semester II Expectation Reminders
Upon arrival, first 3 – 5 min, Sharpen your pencil & get your Journal out and be ready to start your bell ringer. Keep up with personal items, upon dismissal take all items with you, be sure to throw away all trash and keep the room tidy for the next class. No Eating or drinking this semester, please try and eat breakfast before arrival Stay seated, unless you ask permission to get up. Lets’ avoid Distractions, excessive talking….voice level….. When it is time to learn be ready to listen! Advisory Return from lunch in a timely manner, if you are not with the class at pick up, you will be marked tardy.

6 Today’s Lesson: Literature Book Needed
Style: the way in which something is said, done, expressed or performed Discussion: - “What is your Style” Think of three people with a distinct style. What makes you notice this person? How is their style different from someone you know? Does this person have a style similar to yours? QUICKEWRITE: Write a description of your personal style.

8 Mini Lecture Today we are going to talk about and analyze a few elements that you will discover while reading or watching a film. TAKE CORNELL NOTES Mood: A feeling that writer creates for readers. Can you think of an example of a feeling that you might have while reading something? Imagery: Words and phrases that appeal to a readers sense of sight, sound, touch, smell, & taste. Turn to page 454… Silently Read the side that talks about mood, What words did you notice that told about Mood? Write and Illustrate the text that stood out to you?

9 Video Example I “ Mood” Mood is not only in the text we read, but it can be described and felt in a film as well. In your Journal write: Video Example one: “Mood” Frozen Horror Trailer After the video: Complete a Quickwrite: Tell about 3 – 5 words that described mood, secondly how did the movie change your mood?

12 Imagery Turn to page 454, look at the selection on the right and read it silently, you have 2 minutes. What words did you see that tells you about imagery? Let’s talk about it? Now let’s watch for some examples in film: In your journal write: Video Example 2: “Nothing”/Pepsi Zero Sugar After watching the video complete a Quickwrite: List all of the things you saw that appealed to your senses and describe how watching the video made you feel.

Be sure to write the heading in your Journal,... “Boy: Tales of Childhood” Boy: Tales of Childhood 1. What images come to your mind as you read, please express in a complete sentence. 2. What appeals to one of your five senses. Give textual evidence.

19 Example of Word Origin Origin of the word “Communication”
The English term 'Communication' has been evolved from Latin language. 'Communis and communicare' are two Latin words related to the word communication. Communis is noun word, which means common, communiality or sharing. Similarly, communicare is a verb, which means 'make something common'. Some scholars relate the term communication with an English word community. Community members have something common to each other. communities are {supposed to be} formed with the tie of communication. It is the foundation of community. Hence, where there is no communication, there can't be a community
