1 Current regulation of parental leave
The effect of this regulation on the behavior of men and women Roadmap of the reform to achieve an equal, non-transferable and 100% paid leave  1) Brief description of the main features (characteristics) of the     parental leave regulation in your country which determine the     behaviour of mothers and fathers: period available for mothers and for     fathers, level of pay, transferability, flexibility (for instance, the     possibility of taking the leave along six, eight or even more years) ,     part time (or the possibility to extend the length by reducing     pay)....          2) The effect of this regulation on the behaviour of men and women     regarding take up of leave and other relevant issues.          3) What would be the reform that would drive your country to an     egalitarian parental leave system in terms of extending father’s     quota, non transferability (individualisation) of parts which are     right now transferable, increasing remuneration up to 100%, etc.?

2 1.- SPAIN CURRENT REGULATION
Maternity leave: 16 weeks (Payment: 100% of salary) 6 weeks compulsory (so non-transferable) 10 weeks transferable + Non paid parental leave: up to 3 years to each parent during the first 3 years (so transferable) Paternity leave: 4 weeks (Payment: 100% of salary) All non transferable

3 2.- SPAIN: ACTUAL BEHAVIOR OF MOTHERS and FATHERS
Maternity Leave: taken 99,9% by mothers (only 2% of mothers transferred some to the father in 2016). Non paid parental leave: taken 96% by mothers (about 25% to 30% of fathers take some) Paternity leave: taken 100% by fathers (90% of fathers take it, not all fathers are entitled) MOTHERS: 16 weeks (+ possibly up to 3 years) FATHERS: 4 weeks

4 3.- SPAIN: ROADMAP OF THE REFORM TO FULL EQUALITY
Increase non-transferable father’s leave from 4 to 16 weeks. Eliminate transferability of mother’s leave. Eliminate non-paid parental leave, then increase paid leave Individual right to each parent: 16 weeks during the first year, All 100% paid. All non transferable 2 mn video with de design:
