26 How do genetics affect athletics?
While more research is being conducted, at this time, scientists do not believe that you can just change your fiber type from slow to fast twitch. However, it is believed Type IIa fibers can become faster or slower depending on your training schedule. Current research suggests you are born with a specific amount of each fiber type and that’s how you’ll stay.
