1 POLYPHASE IIR FILTER

2 ABSTRACT IIR polyphase filters present several interesting properties: they require a very small number of multipliers to implement, they are inherently stable, have low roundoff noise sensitivity and no limit cycles. Furthermore, it is possible to achieve almost linear phase designs. Butterworth, Chebyshev I and II, and elliptic IIR filters can be designed using all pass subfilters as building blocks for the following response types: lowpass, highpass, bandpass and bandstop. Butterworth and elliptic IIR filters can also be designed with a halfband, Hilbert transform, multirate halfband and multirate dyadic halfband response type.

3 What is polyphase A polyphase system is a means of distributing alternating-current electrical power. Polyphase systems have three or more energized electrical conductor carrying alternating currents with a definite time offset between the voltage waves in each conductor. Polyphase systems are particularly useful for transmitting power to electric motor.

4 IIR FILTER Infinite impulse response (IIR) is a property applying to many linear time-invariant systems. Common examples of linear time-invariant systems are most electronic and digital filters. Systems with this property are known as IIR systems or IIR filters, and are distinguished by having an impulse response which does not become exactly zero past a certain point, but continues indefinitely

8 CONCLUSION We have presented the polyphase IIR filter by the decimator and interpolator structure which has been proposed and investigated . It has been shown that these have very narrow transition bands, very high stop band attenuation and very low computational cost. Thus it is possible to conclude that this structure performs as required by many high speed application .
