2 Different types of bridges
Suspension: A Bridge that is supported by cables Arch : A Bridge with a curved arch Beam: A simply supported bridge, usually straight like a line Truss: A bridge with a structure of Triangular units Arch Truss Suspension Beam

3 Suspension Bridges This type of bridge has cables suspended between towers, plus vertical suspender cables that carry the weight of the deck below. Suspension cables must be anchored at each end of the bridge The cables suspended via towers hold up the road deck, the weight is transferred by the cables to the towers, which turn in transfer the weight to the ground Main suspension cables in older bridges was often made from chain or linked bars but modern bridge cables are made from multiple strands of wire.

4 Arch Bridges This is a bridge with abutments at each end shaped as a curved arch Not moveable, low, Made of: Masonry, concrete, wrought iron, cast iron, timber, structural steel Can carry Pedestrians vehicles, light rail, heavy rail, water

5 Beam bridges The span range is short its mostly used for trains and for people to walk across The ancestor is a log bridge This bridge isn’t movable some are pretty low Materials used: Timber, iron, steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete

6 Truss bridges The beam bridge is this bridges ancestor
Carries: pedestrians, pipelines, Automobiles, trucks, light rail, heavy rail The span range is Short to medium- Not very long unless its continuous Some maybe Movable Material used: Timber, iron, steel, reinforced, concrete, prestressed concrete
