Acronyms are good for remembering lists. Eg. food sources. Eg. Can My Cat Yodel? Now, write an acronym for the sources of the other two water-soluble vitamins.

Get organised - make a time-plan. Revise in short blocks of time + take regular breaks. Don’t get distracted. Stick with it!

Christmas Log (Swiss Roll)
You will make Christmas Log next lesson. Your Christmas Log must be presented with a side dish or garnish.

Method… Turn on the oven to 200c or Gas Mark 6. Line a Swiss roll tin with parchment paper. Whisk the eggs and sugar in a clean mixing bowl using an electric whisk until they are thick, white and creamy. Using a metal spoon gently fold the sieved flour and cocoa powder into the mixture. Pour into the tin. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown and firm. To make the icing: with a wooden spoon, cream the margarine with the sieved icing sugar and cocoa powder until smooth. While the cake is baking, sprinkle the extra sugar over a piece of greaseproof paper. When the Swiss roll is cooked, tip it onto the sugared paper. Peel off the paper and trim the edges of the Swiss roll Spread the icing quickly and roll up, using the paper to help you. Cool on a wire rack. Ingredients… 3 eggs 75g sugar 50g self raising flour 25g cocoa powder Extra sugar for rolling up Icing… 75g margarine 135g icing sugar 15g cocoa powder Optional… Bring in any extra ingredients for your side dish and/or garnish Also… A container with a lid.

Homework: Planning – Ingredient Nutrient Function List the ingredients that you will use. What nutrient is it? Why choose it? Draw and label the Eatwell Guide. Write the names of the ingredients that you will use in the correct section of the Eatwell Guide. Explain why your Christmas Log is a balanced dish.
