The first sentence, “The job of a ranger is made up of many different jobs, “ sounds like the main idea. It tells me that I am going to read about all the jobs of a park ranger. The author repeats the main idea at the beginning of paragraph two.
The details in the rest of the passage support the main idea. The supporting details tell the jobs that rangers do, like enforcing park rules, teaching visitors about the park, and keeping track of plants and animals.
The passage is expository. It gives information. As I read, I noticed that the author compared the job of park rangers to many
other jobs, like police officer, teacher, scientist, and others. The author organized the
text in a way that compares and
contrasts. So, the text

Contrast.
