Available to recognize a Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, Sea Scout, or Venture who excel in outdoor participation (Est. 2010)
Six badges to recognize exemplary knowledge and experience in high-level outdoor activities
Camping
Hiking
Aquatics
Conservation
Riding
Adventure

3. Camping First Class Camping Merit Badge Complete 2 of the following 3
Cooking MB, First Aid MB, Pioneering MB
25 days/nights camping (six must be consecutive at BSA accredited resident camp
Gold device may be earned for each additional 25 nights of camping. Silver for additional 100 nights.

4. Hiking First Class Camping Merit Badge
Complete one of the following merit badges
Hiking MB or Backpacking MB
Orienteering, Geocaching, Pathfinding ( )
Complete 100 miles of hiking, backpacking, snow-shoeing, or cross-country skiing
Gold device may be earned for each additional 50 miles of hiking. Silver for additional 200 miles.

5. Aquatics First Class Swimming and Lifesaving merit badges
Earn the Mile Swim BSA Award
Complete one of the following merit badges
Canoeing, Fishing, Fly-Fishing, Kayaking, Rowing, Scuba Diving, Small-Boat Sailing, Water Sports, or Whitewater
Complete at least 25 hours of on-the-water time, applying the skills that you learned in the merit badge
50 hours of any combination of swimming, canoeing, fishing, fly-fishing, kayaking, rowing, scuba, small-boat sailing, stand up paddle boarding, water sports, or whitewater
Gold device may be earned for each additional 25 hours of aquatic activities. Silver for additional 100 hours.

6. Conservation First Class
Demonstrate the safe use of five of the following conservation tools:
Pick or pickax; shovel or spade; ax; bow saw; cross-cut saw; pry bar; sledge hammer; loppers or shears; fire rake or McLeod; and/or Pulaski
Discuss the ethical use of the tools you chose.
Complete the requirements for the following:
Environmental Science merit badge or Sustainability merit badge
Soil and Water Conservation merit badge
One of the following merit badges: Fish and Wildlife Management, Forestry, or Mammals
Complete 25 hours of conservation work
Gold device may be earned for each additional 25 hours of conservation work. Silver for additional 100 hours.

7. Riding
First Class
Complete the requirements for at least one of the following:
Cycling merit badge and 100 miles of cycling
Horsemanship merit badge and 20 miles of horseback riding
Motorboating merit badge and 100 miles of motor boating
Skating merit badge and 20 miles of skating
Complete 200 miles of riding activities, including cycling, stock riding, skating, motor boating, mountain boarding, snowmobiling (including ATV or PWC riding at an approved council program)
Gold device may be earned for each additional 100 miles of riding. Silver for additional 400 miles.

8. Adventure First Class Complete one of the following merit badges
Wilderness Survival, Search and Rescue, or Emergency Preparedness
Complete 10 of any combination or repetition of the following adventure activities
Backpacking trip lasting three or more days and covering more than 20 miles without food resupply
Canoeing, rowing, or sailing trip lasting three or more days and covering more than 50 miles without food resupply
Whitewater trip lasting two or more days and covering more than 20 miles without food resupply
Climbing activity on open rock, following Climb on Safely principles, that includes camping overnight
Earn the National Historic Trails Award.
Earn the 50-Miler Award.
Attend any national high-adventure base or any nationally recognized local high-adventure or specialty-adventure program.
Gold device for each additional 5 activities. Silver for additional 20 activities.

9. National Medal for Outdoor Achievement
First Class
Camping with a silver device
Earn any two additional National Outdoor Badges, each with two gold devices
Complete all of the following merit badges
Backpacking, Emergency Prep, Nature, Wilderness Survival
Complete 16-hour course in Wilderness 1st Aid
Become a Leave No Trace Trainer by completing the 16-hour training course

10. National Medal for Outdoor Achievement (Con’t)
Plan and lead an outing in two of the following areas:
Hiking, aquatics activities, or riding
Include in each outing a service element addressing recreational impacts resulting from that type of activity
Complete one of the following
Plan and lead an adventure activity from the Adventure area
Successfully complete a season on a council summer camp staff in an outdoor area, such as aquatics, Scoutcraft, nature/environment, climbing, or COPE.
