Providing cross training Providing training in offices of any size when there is not enough time to review updates on daily or even weekly basis May be short staffed May not have up-to-date technology Getting your message out to immediate supervisors and top campus administrators Important to receiving needed resources for your office and students Some challenges to think about as we discuss training… How to provide cross-training in the most effective way? Deciding what training to provide…how much overview vs how much actual hands on Suggestions include: Online training resources – IFAP - Coach FSA Annual Conference – NASFAA – Annual conference, credentials, webinars NCASFAA Conferences, training for new FAAs, intermediate, webinars, mentoring Vendors often offer free training Institution’s Policies and Procedures Manual – not enough time to keep up-to-date while failure to do so is not acceptable either Getting your message out of importance of financial aid to entire institution. Significant portion of the institution’s budget generated through financial aid office. Helping key administrators understand that compliance with Federal and State regulations is institution-wide or campus-wide responsibility. Cannot be done by financial aid staff alone.
