1 NWHPEC Board Meeting May 25, 2017 via Telecom
In Attendance: Rick Alvarado, Jennifer Ayers, Richard Carroll, Dale Gehring, Steve Richardson, Alex Thomason, Julie Simmons Adjourned 1:17pm Financial Update (Mike): The Board reviewed the new version of the Balance Sheet showing year-to-year comparisons. The Board asked to see the following included on the new report: Past two to three years of end of year data Current period against same time period from 1 year back Of the 10 companies who still owe membership dues, one, Protech, is at risk of losing membership. The other nine companies are all processing their membership dues invoice. Dale suggested we add “Current # of Members” to the Scorecard. Old Business: One-Pager Doc: Julie has reached out to Jeff Cameron to set up a date and time to get together to work on this document. Member Context Report: Julie and Richard reviewed the spreadsheet and summary data from the report. Richard has the action to create two more versions of the summary data: Maturity & Leadership and Learning & Maturity. Once done, Julie will send this info to the Board to review prior to the June 6th strategy session. Julie has the action to reach out to the members in the lower and middle quadrants to solicit their input to the questions asked at the member feedback session. This information will help round out the feedback since the attendees largely fell into the upper right quadrant (strong leadership, mature, and highly active). Learning Tour Analysis: Julie, Rick, and Jennifer have pulled together and reviewed Learning Tour data from This data has helped create survey questions around understanding why companies attend Learning Tours, as well as why companies aren’t hosting. The survey will go out on May 29th. Event Updates (Julie): Learning Tours: We’ve added one host company, Milwaukee Electronics. Sheldon Mfg. is hosting our first Learning Tour of the year on July 26th. Training Classes: Smith Gardens has requested to host the IK/CK class on June 20th. Once they have received the final approvals, Julie will announce this class. Executive Forums: LHE continues with the first group finishing their series in June and second group finishing in July. Julie and Dan have discussed holding one or two “graduates” classes where past participants can come to do some speed stir-the-paints, hear new learnings, and refresh their skills. Leadership Session: Col. Athens session is close to full. The Board supported increasing the capacity count to Jennifer asked if we could identify what in particular is drawing them to this session versus others. Julie has the action to add this type of question to the evaluation. Dale suggested we help the leaders in the audience understand how this session relates to CI (respect for people) as part of the kick-off and closing statements. Additionally, recognize the fact so many leaders are in the audience and give them a call to action at the end. New Business: - AME Regional Events, Training, and Education Survey Summary: Dale reviewed some of the data obtained through AME’s nationwide survey and suggested the Board review it prior to the June 6th strategy session. The data may help us see current trends and needs, as well as identify what may be next to offer to our members. Next Board Meeting: June 22nd from Noon – 2pm Location: TBD
