Update February 19, 2017 Good evening Professor, continuing with the FVE Case Study for Master Resiliency Training (MRT), the following presentation slides (6 through 8) entail the summary of three trends relating to the Future Vision for Education. The three trends include educational technology, economic and public policy, and demographics. Update February 4, 2017 Good morning Professor, in continuation to the FVE Project covering Master Resilience Training (MRT), Presentation slides 4 and 5 will provide an overview of Scenario’s and Scanning, and how it can be applied to MRT (from both positive and challenging aspects). Hello Professor, This presentation will provide a brief summary of the educational structure of Master Resilience Training for the U.S. Army. Presented and prepared by Robert Biggins, student of Post University. ROBERT BIGGINS Post University

2 Strength Based-Prevention
“Resilience is the ability of minimizing the effect of difficulties, crisis, traumas, and recover quickly from challenging situations” Dr. Richard Tedeschi, 2014 The educational organization that Master Resilience Training focuses on is the importance’s of strength based-prevention for U.S. Army Soldiers and military families. Quoted from Dr. Richard Tedeschi, from the University of Pennsylvania, he implies that “resilience is the ability of minimizing the effect of difficulties, crisis, traumas, and recover quickly from challenging situations” (2014). Undoubtedly there are several challenges that arise each day throughout the military, and it is critical to have both the mental and physical capacity of handling situations at any given moment. Regardless of the challenges and setbacks that occur, Soldiers must bounce back and not crack.

3 Technological Usage Online Learning Bring Your Own Device
Soldiers can access resource material for Master Resilience Training, available at This is attainable through the usage of Online Learning and Bringing Your Own Device (BYOD). Soldiers provided the ability to learn at a self-paced tempo fosters the outlook of learning the educational structure of Master Resilience Training in a positive and insightful manner. The manner of BYOD enables the capability to access essential information independently without the limitation to one source of retrieving data. In addition, BYOD is a universal process of attaining information at any location, with proper connectivity (WiFi, landline, satellite, etc.) Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) gives Soldiers the flexibility of accessing MRT information on personal devices, regardless of the location. Online Learning enables Soldiers to obtain Resourceful information of MRT at their leisure, granting a constructive means of education.

4 Scenarios & Scanning Scenario’s give decision makers, planners, and institutions to explore multiple possibilities to capitalize in various forms of real-world situations. Ruth Wienclaw (2016) states that, “scenario’s are a way to help organizations think through their assumptions and become better prepared to flexibly respond to possible future conditions”. Mapping out a chart of how each decision makes an impact is critical in order to succeed and excel. Through scenario’s, military leaders can grasp a well planned idea of approaches to take for MRT practices, better serving the needs of Soldiers at any given circumstance and degree of difficulty. Scanning is a method of collecting resourceful information that positively contributes to the supply and demanding needs of a societal culture. Additionally, scanning is an overview of what is trending which enables leaders to better implement the most effective choices in a rapidly changing environment as life continually progresses. In connection to MRT, military leaders can apply this principle with the scope of analyzing which measures are most effective when dealing with real world situations for U.S. Army Soldiers and family members. Scenario’s are hypothetically planned events of what could possibly occur in real-world practices, structured with reasonable actions in place to respond accordingly. Scanning is the practice of observing an environment that embraces current trending ideas and services within a changing and evolving society.

5 with Master Resilience Training
Scenario’s and Scanning in Application with Master Resilience Training Challenges Faced Positive Aspects With scenario’s and scanning applied to Master Resilience Training, there are challenges that emerge as well as positive aspects. Below is a comparison between the two. The Challenges Faced are: -Encountering multiple problems that may seem irresolvable: scenario’s could possibly build into more difficulties and may appear to be overwhelming (underlying issues). -Could take an extensive amount of time: Scanning may require several hours/days to capture a full overview of a situation prior to developing solutions. -Triggering of undetected icebergs: Probable risk of encountering unexpected nuances throughout scenario and scanning usage which may lead to a escalated degree of posed challenges. -Level of familiarity: Leaders may lack in sharing similarly related experience making it difficult to be on the same page of understanding a Soldier’s personal situation (misunderstanding). The Positive Aspects include: -Detect and resolve icebergs: Confronting and handling a Soldier’s situation now could prevent further calamity from occurring (preservation of decisions). -Establishes team building: The formulation of boosting morale ensures a positive atmosphere and reduces the likelihood of degraded performance. -Fosters the aspects of adapting and overcoming: Increases the ability to react and respond to future happenings (plan for the unexpected). -Promotes encouragement and determination: Empowers leaders and Soldiers to withstand against the unexpected elements of hindrances, continuing forward and not waiver from striving for success. Encounter multiple problems that may seem irresolvable Could take an extensive amount of time May trigger undetected icebergs and escalate the situation May not have the same level of experience Detect and resolve icebergs, alleviating further mishaps Establishes team building (high morale) Strengthens military personnel , to adapt and overcome collectively as a unit Promotes encouragement and determination

6 Educational Technology
Online Learning Bring Your Own Device Trending Educational Technology impacting Master Resiliency Training is beneficial to Soldiers and military dependents, Considering that information is easily accessible through the implementation of Online Learning and Bring Your Own Device (BOYD). It is imperative for Soldiers of the U.S. Army to learn and understand the skills of resiliency against unforeseen circumstances, and to not quit when hardships do occur in life. The usage of Online Learning allows Soldiers and military families to obtain knowledgeable skills for resiliency, benefitting both themselves and the lives of others. Master Resiliency integrated with the with BOYD allows Soldiers to address and handle challenging moments with the aid of personal electronic devices. The more independent Soldiers become of handling challenging events, the more sustainable our nation becomes with Soldiers that are capable to confront personal circumstances and stay focus on the operational needs of the Army. “Online Learning environments require students to take more of an active role in their learning since online learning give students flexibility and empowerment over the course of their learning” -Hung et al. (2010) Bringing your own device (i.e., tablet & smart- phone) enables Soldiers to learn Master Resiliency data at any location and time. This provides a sufficient means of receiving information more efficiently.

7 Economical & Public Policy
Population Increase of U.S. Troops Counter Insurgencies of Terrorism Master Resiliency, coordinated by the Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness (CSF2) program, includes personal assessments and resources for U.S. Army Soldiers to equip themselves with the necessary skills to enrich themselves, military comrade, and family members. This is highly beneficial during deployment operations with Soldiers separated from their families in hostile environments. Remaining mentally and emotionally strong is just as vital as remaining physically strong. Under the Trump administration, it is unsure if the U.S. will incur another global war on terrorism while in office. Regardless of outcomes, Soldiers within the U.S. Army have to be prepared to take action upon the call of our nation against enemy attack at any given moment. “The economic effects of a prolonged campaign of terrorism go beyond the direct losses in life and property when a target is struck to the indirect costs that tend to be much greater – and more difficult – to assess” -Kahan, J. (2016)

8 Demographics Discrimination against demographical minorities is not an acceptable manner of service within the U.S. Army. Soldiers are not authorized or permitted to disparage fellow seniors, peers, or subordinates for their race, age, or ethnicity. As more Soldiers enter and join the U.S. Army, it is important that the older generation of senior rank Soldiers build a positive climate of unity and trust for troops of a younger generation and demographic origin. Soldiers of every race, age, ethnicity, and culture are to be treated with the same level of dignity and respect without compromise. The U.S. Army and dynamics of MRT are not discriminative to any particular group of people. Fairness and equality are entitled to Soldiers of every demographical background.

9 Vision & Plan The U.S. Army will adapt and overcome to
Five years ahead, Master Resilience Training will provide for developmental resources in preparing Soldiers physiologically and mentally to confront enemy threats against the U.S. The U.S. Army will adapt and overcome to the increasingly rapid shift of hostile conflict through innovative and strategically planned actions, interfaced with technologically advanced tactics in a intricate world of battle. The wave of leadership from the Millennial generation will embark new levels of wartime strategizing and planning The U.S. Army is expected of to be ready and on guard to defend our country at any moment’s. The reality is that war can occur unexpectedly; it is the dominant forces of warfare that succeed in victory over their opponents. Therefore U.S. Soldiers will visualize and plan ahead to what could potentially transpire through resourceful training and preparation (MRT and tactic planning). Additionally, the growth in population by the Millennial generation evokes new and profound manners of envisioning and planning for the future five years ahead.

10 Plan for Change Having a Plan for Change signifies five
essential steps that the U.S. Army plans and prepares for probable changes Joint Operation Training Train for most tragic events Additional MRT for Soldiers and Families Employ Online Learning and BYOD for global training with different countries Amplify the usefulness of team unison within the Army A plan for change identifies five valuable ways that the U.S. Army should plan and prepare for probable changes. The first plan involves the combination of joint-operation training for all sectors within the U.S. Army. By merging the Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve components together dismantles the break of communication and differentiation of standards and expectations for service members. Secondly, train for the worse probable outcomes with the aid technological equipment (online network and digital devices). This helps greatly when it comes to navigating and communicating; preparing for the most undesirable situations with the assistance of technology helps Soldiers stay in line during the heat of battle. Third, incorporate additional Master Resiliency Training for Soldiers and military families during peacetime operations. This helps alleviate the frustration and angst of family separation during deployments. Fourth, utilize Online Learning and BYOD technologies for international training with Army commands designated in different countries (i.e., Africa and Germany). Applying interactive training tools with Army units across globe builds a stronger and more collaborative infrastructure. Fifth, strengthen the purposefulness of unity within the Army. Our military cannot operate adequately with racism and hatred. Therefore Soldiers must learn to appreciate and respect one another to make mission operations victorious.

11 Call for Action In order for planned changes to produced desired results, executing aforementioned tactics is required to meet expectations Executing the first two procedures within the Plan for Change are the pivotal steps to ensuring the U.S. Army’s rate of proficiency of victory in wartime operations. The United States Army’s rate of wartime proficiency will increase through the implementation of Joint Operation Training and planning for worst case scenario simulation procedures. Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve components combined within the U.S. Army develop an internally sound support structure, universally complying to mutual cooperation and expectation of mission operations. This will yield to greater outcomes of wartime success. Simulative training for most tragic event based events with technological equipment-based training and preparation increases Soldiers’ level of awareness and masterfulness of battlefield decision making strategies on the spot, seamlessly identifying the most sufficient and precise methods of combat procedures.
