Mark 15:6-25 “Now at the feast he used to release for them any one prisoner whom they requested. [7] The man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection. [8] The crowd went up and began asking him to do as he had been accustomed to do for them. …”
4
Mark 15:6-25 “…[9] Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?" [10] For he was aware that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy. [11] But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead. [12] Answering again, Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?" …”
5
Mark 15:6-25 “…[13] They shouted back, "Crucify Him!" [14] But Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they shouted all the more, "Crucify Him!" [15] Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified. [16] The soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they called together the whole Roman cohort. …”
6
Mark 15:6-25 “…[17] They dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they put it on Him; [18] and they began to acclaim Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" [19] They kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him. [20] After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they led Him out to crucify Him. …”

Mark 15:6-25 “…[21] They pressed into service a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), to bear His cross. The Romans The Jews had no authority to put anyone to death
John 18:28-31
11
John 18:28-31 “Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium so that they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. [29] Therefore Pilate went out to them and said, "What accusation do you bring against this Man?" …”
12
John 18:28-31 “…[30] They answered and said to him, "If this Man were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you." [31] So Pilate said to them, "Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law." The Jews said to him, "We are not permitted to put anyone to death,"”
13
John 19:16-18 “So he then handed Him over to them to be crucified. [17] They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. [18] There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.”
14
Matthew 27:26-31 “Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified. [27] Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole Roman cohort around Him. [28] They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. [29] And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; …”
15
Matthew 27:26-31 “…and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" [30] They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head. [31] After they had mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.”
17
The Jews Jesus showed that the Jews carried the greater guilt
John 19:10-15
18
John 19:10-15 “So Pilate said to Him, "You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?" [11] Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin." …”
19
John 19:10-15 “…[12] As a result of this Pilate made efforts to release Him, but the Jews cried out saying, "If you release this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar." [13] Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.…”
20
John 19:10-15 “…[14] Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, "Behold, your King!" [15] So they cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar."”
21
The Jews The Jews accepted responsibility for their actions

22
Matthew 27:22-25 “Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all said, "Crucify Him!" [23] And he said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they kept shouting all the more, saying, "Crucify Him!" [24] When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, …”
23
Matthew 27:22-25 “…he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this Man's blood; see to that yourselves." [25] And all the people said, "His blood shall be on us and on our children!"”
24
1 Thessalonians 2:14-15 “For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews, 15 who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all men,”
25
The Jews Jesus said to those evil Jews, “... upon you may fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth...” Matthew 23:32-36
26
Matthew 23:32-36 “Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. [33] "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell? [34] "Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city, …”
27
Matthew 23:32-36 “…[35] so that upon you may fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. [36] "Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.”
29

Acts 2:22-23 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know— 23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.”
31
Acts 4:27-28 “For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.”
33

… yet it was His own will that He die for the sins of the world John 10:11-18
34
John 10:11-18 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. [12] "He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. [13] "He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. …”
35
John 10:11-18 “…[14] "I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, [15] even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. [16] "I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. …”
36
John 10:11-18 “…[17] "For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. [18] "No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father."”
37

42
Isaiah 53:8 “By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?”
43
Isaiah 53:10 “But the Lord was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.”
44
Isaiah 53:11 “As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities.”
45
Isaiah 53:12 “Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.”
46
You & I are Responsible He was bruised because of our iniquities
He bore our sins in His own body on the cross 1 Peter 2:24 “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”
47
Hebrews 9:25-28 “nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. [26] Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. …”
48
Hebrews 9:25-28 “…[27] And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, [28] so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.”
49
You & I are Responsible Forgiveness to all sinners is now possible through the death of Christ Hebrews 10:10-14
50
Hebrews 10:10-14 “By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. [11] Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; …”
51
Hebrews 10:10-14 “… [12] but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, [13] waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet. [14] For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.”
52
Romans 6:4-12 “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 53
Romans 6:4-12 “…[6] knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; [7] for he who has died is freed from sin. 54
Romans 6:4-12 “…[10] For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. [11] Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. [12] Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,”
55
You & I are Responsible Those who do not willingly obey the Lord
… are considering the death of Christ as an unholy or common thing Hebrews 10:26-29
56
Hebrews 10:26-29 “For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, [27] but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. [28] Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.…”
57
Hebrews 10:26-29 “…[29] How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?”

59
Hebrews 6:4-6 “For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, [5] and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, [6] and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.”
61
Who killed Jesus? The Romans crucified Him.
The Jews demanded that He die. God sent His Son to die for us. Jesus willingly died to redeem us from our sins. All of us, because we are sinners, must bear responsibility for Jesus' death.
