1 Slaves to Christ Ephesians 6:5-9

2 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
Social status means nothing. Why didn’t God inspire the Apostle Paul to condemn the practice of slavery? God is more concerned about the status of your soul. Through Paul, God was giving practical spiritual guidance on how to best endure and live under the cultural structure of the day and time those Christians were living in. In the church social status means nothing.

3 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
Social status means nothing. It doesn’t matter where we rank in society. What matters is how we conduct ourselves as slaves to Christ. Its not where a person ranks in the eyes of other people that matters, but their character and their sincerity of obedient worship to God that matters most. Ephesians 6:6 I Corinthians 7:21-24

4 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
Financial or economical status means nothing. During the time of the Roman empire it was not uncommon for a person to sell themselves into slavery as a means of economic advancement. Sometimes in our attempts to make ourselves financially stable or in our mind doing what we think needs to be done to adequately provide for our families we can become slaves to our jobs.

5 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
Financial or economical status means nothing. How does that effect your relationship to Christ? You can set a child up for life financially and destroy them for eternity at the same time. “Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”  Don’t set your children up to be spiritually bankrupt.

6 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
Materialistic status means nothing. Possible temptations for slaves and masters. Slaves To be unruly, disrespectful, slothful, or abusive to other slaves To be jealous, or covetous Masters To treat slaves as lesser people; to abuse them To be greedy When I say materialistic status I am also going to lump all of our activities. Sometimes living a fuller life doesn’t mean a better life or definitely a godly life or God centered life.

7 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
Materialistic status means nothing. God would rather you be a slave than a freeman who could become to comfortable to rely upon Him or not regard Him more faithfully.

8 Above everything else we are slaves to Christ!
In an imperfect world governed by imperfect people it is hard to have a perfect solution to all of society’s issues, that seem wrong or that there’s a better way. The most important thing is that we promote Christ and if we must, suffer for Christ, and remain obedient to Christ at all times. I Peter 2:11-25 Colossians 3:23
