1. Magnetic Field Quench Effects on Vortex Relaxation Dynamics in Disordered Type-II Superconductors
Scientific Achievement
The effect of sudden magnetic field changes on the non-equilibrium relaxation kinetics of vortex lines in type-II superconductors were investigated in the presence of point-like vs. extended columnar defects.
Significance and Impact
Our systematic numerical study disentangled the influences of competing contributions from pinning, elastic energy, and mutual interactions following experimentally motivated initial conditions.
Research Details
An elastic line model was utilized in our Langevin molecular dynamics study of magnetic flux lines.
Magnetic field quenches in the form of sudden changes in the number of vortices were applied.
Point-like disorder enhances the lines’ transverse fluctuations while columnar defects reduce them.
