Mason Fennel1, Xingxuan Huang2, Jingjing Sun2, Dr. Leon Tolbert2 1 University of South Carolina 2 The University of Tennessee, Knoxville INTRODUCTION DC-DC boost converters extend battery life, increase output voltage and save space for design AC-DC converters are known as rectifiers, where an oscillating voltage is converted into a constant voltage Converting AC to DC can result in undesirable losses in efficiency, power factor (PF) and an increased total harmonic distortion (THD) Power Factor Correction (PFC) converters maintain a PF of just below 1 (~ ) and minimize THD to improve power quality This design implements a single phase bridgeless totem-pole configuration with GaN HEMTs for switching with a goal of 99% efficiency with an input voltage of 277V AC and an output voltage of 450V DC Figure 1.
