1 The image was obtained in an asymptomatic woman 7 weeks and 4 days after her last menstrual period. The right tubal ectopic pregnancy is seen in the transverse plane of the right adnexa as an echogenic ring (top image) immediately lateral to the uterus and medial to the right ovary. A yolk sac and fetal pole are seen within the extrauterine gestational sac. The fetal pole is noted to have a fetal heart rate of 123 beats per minute by M mode.
