1 Figurative Langauge and Poetry
Shakespeare is as cool as a cucumber.

2 Figurative Language the use of words in imaginative ways to express ideas that are not literally true.

3 Different types similie- a comparison between two unlike things using the words "like" or "as." metaphor- an implied comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common characteristics.

4 personification- gives human qualities to an animal, object, or idea.
Alliteration- the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words.

5 hyperbole- an exaggeration.
onomatopoeia- imitates the natural sounds of something. imagery- descriptive language use to recreate sensory experience.
