1 ASSIGNMENT 12/SMS02/088 UFOT SARAH FERNANDO
TOPIC;RECENT ADVANCEMENT AND APPLICATION IN TOUCH SCREEN TECHNOLOGY

2 INTRODUCTION A touch screen is an electronic visual display that the user can control through simple or multi-touch gestures by touching the screen with a special stylus/pen and-or one or more fingers

3 RECENT ADVANCEMENT IN TOUCH SCREEN TECHNOLOGY
Touch screen technology has succeeded in its advancement from capacitive touch screens to resistive touch screens, multitouch screens and so on. In its recent advancement with Haptic advances, it has moved from just swiping and typing to having a 3D touch screen with Haptic feedbacks giving users the ability to push 3D objects around in a virtual space

4 RECENT ADVANCEMENT IN TOUCHSCREEN TECHNOLOGY
With Atmel maxtouch technology, users enjoy a sophisticated interface that is smart enough to ignore unintended touches, all of this enables peerless touch interface that are intuitive, flexible, reliable, and battery-friendly. Atmel touch screen chips are small enough to fit the most compact mobile devices and powerful enough to accommodate the larger screens on products such as digital tablets and windows 8.x compliant notebooks and ultra books even with features of unlimited touches, passive stylus, fast response, unparallel flexibility and exacting precision.

5 RECENT ADVANCEMENT IN TOUCH SCREEN TECHNOLOGY
. Toshiba and Senseg have created a technology that uses electrical currents to simulate sensations of touch. This form of tactile feedback can be enabled on the front and back of phones so the sensations reach the fingertips and the palm. Mitsubishi and Cypress have unveiled “Hover detection amongst other brands, these screens would react when the panel is touched as well as gauge how near and or far away a finger is from the surface. This so called “Mouse-over” function will make touch screen technology seem almost magical

6 APPLICATIONS OF TOUCH SCREENS
Device control- Touch screen panels can be used for controlling devices, for example audio or video equipments, such panels can b flexibly programmed and configured, and thus avoid the necessity of complex button panels or keyboards. ATM Machines- Most recent ATM machines have applied touch screens to its use for ease of function, time management, and probably attraction of customers. Diagnostic tools in automobile repair shops.
