Journal of Vision. 2007;7(5):7. doi: /7.5.7 Figure Legend: The setup used can display visual scenes on a cathode ray tube (CRT), which are mirrored to be aligned with the haptic scene. Both scenes can be controlled independently. Haptically, the scene can be explored using a PHANToM device to provide the appropriate force feedback. The subject's head is fixed on a head and chin rest. We used an SGI, Octane 2 to drive the visual and haptic simulation. GHoST was used to generate the haptic scene; OpenGL with GLUT was used for visual rendering.
