18 D Type of question? What do I need to do? Hot Tip!
This is a causation question What do I need to do? The aim of the question is to get you to assess the links between and importance of causes of events Hot Tip! Examiners will be looking for an ‘argument’. This does not mean insisting that your ideas are correct and other ideas are wrong or stupid. It means having a clear sense of your overall answer running through the whole essay. One section in the essay should not say that X was the case and then the conclusion say something different – you need to be consistent and the different parts of the essay should build up to one coherent answer Ideas for your answer Section 1: Give the first factor mentioned in the source Fully explain this factor Add any of your own knowledge which is relevant Link this with the next factor given in the source Section 2: Give the second factor mentioned in the source Conclusion: Make your judgement, stress the links between the two factors
