1 SCRUMS Agile Education

2 Student Objectives Students will know what a scrum is and how it is organized. Students will understand the role of the scrum master. Students will know how to publish notes on a Moodle discussion forum and Moodle Wikispace. Student will understand the Agile method of looking to outside resources to help them when they are stuck.

3 What is a Scrum? A scrum is a small group (4 students at most) daily meeting. The group stays together for at least 1 semester. The meeting takes only 3-4 minutes per day at the beginning of the period. Each student gets seconds to answer the following questions: What did you accomplish last night? What areas did you struggle with? Why? What are you working on tonight? All answers should focus on subject related material and not personal information! Questions should not be asked for each student. Each student should know the questions already and just share their answers to the questions without being prompted.

4 What is a Scrum? A student is designated as the scrum master.
He/she leads the group and takes notes. He/she keeps the group on task. He/she posts the notes on a Moodle discussion forum. The role of scrum master is rotated between different people every 2 weeks.

7 Agile Method to get help
When trying to solve problems, you will inevitably get stuck. How you approach your current problem and future problems can shape the type of problem solver you become. How do you react? You can quit! You can keep trying! You can ask for help! At what point should you take each strategy?

8 Agile Method to get help
Struggle is part of problem solving. If you take longer than 15 minutes with NO progress, it is time to look outside your group. Ask another group. If you and the new group are still stuck after another 10 minutes, ask another group. If you and the new group are still stuck after another 10 minutes, ask the teacher for a hint.

9 Keys to Agile Method of getting help.
Never Quit! Always keep trying. Give your fellow peers a chance to help you before you go to the teacher. During your 15 minutes: Look at your notes as a resource. Do a Google search for more resources. Look to your textbook as a resource.
