1 Spiritual Health

2 Which is more important - our physical or spiritual health?
Why do we go to the doctor? Sick Want answers and help! Routine Checkups Which is more important - our physical or spiritual health?

3 Matt. 9:12–13 12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 …For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

4 We Must Examine Ourselves – “Examine yourselves …” 2 Cor. 13:5
God examines us – (1 Samuel 16:7; Heb 4:13; Ecc 12:14)

5 Our Weight? Weighed in the balances & found wanting – Dan. 5:26-28
“Let me be weighed in an even balance …” Job 31:6 “Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life …” Lk. 21:34

6 Our Weight? “let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us …” Heb. 12:1-3 “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby…” 1 Pet 2:2

7 Our Temperature? “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth” Rev. 3:14-16 “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matt. 24:12-13

8 Our Temperature? Titus 2:11–14
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

9 Our Eyes? If your eye be single… Let your eyes look straight ahead…
Eyes full of sin - 2 Pet 2:14; 1 Jn 2:16; Matt. 13:16 Our spiritual understanding – Matt. 13:16; Eph 1:18 Our focus – Matt. 6:22-23; Prov. 4:25 Seeing by faith - 2 Cor 4:18 2 Pet. 2:14 eyes full of sin 1 Jn. 2:16 – lust of the eyes Matt. 13:16 – their eyes they have closed, spiritually blind Eph. 1:18 the eyes of your spiritual understanding Matt. 6:22-23 – If your eye be single, if your focus is upon the right things Prov. 4:25 – let your eyes look straight ahead Heb. 11:1 – Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. If your eye be single… Eyes full of sin… The eyes of your spiritual understanding… Their eyes they have closed… Lust of the eyes… Let your eyes look straight ahead…

10 You have become dull of hearing…
Our Ears? “Hard of hearing …” Matt. 13:13- 15; Heb. 5:11 Selective hearing - 2 Tim 4:2-4 “Take heed what you hear …” – Mk. 4:24 Willingness & desire to hear, (understand & obey) the truth You have become dull of hearing…

12 Our Tongue? “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Matt. 12:33-37

13 Our Tongue? A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. Matt. 12:33-37

14 Our Tongue? 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt. 12:33-37

15 Our Heart? Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
The seat of our affections - the mind & will – Prov. 23:7 Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind & strength – Mk. 12:29-31 Believing & obeying from the heart - Rom 6:17 Hearts must be pure – Matt. 5:8; undivided – Matt. 6:19-21 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
