2 Historical Significance
Goddess of the Witches. Goddess of fertility and plenty; Goddess of the moon; and Goddess of the night and the underworld. She had control over birth, life, and death. Hecate was the only Titan who retained her power after Zeus' victory.

3 Background Information
At night she traveled the earth accompanied by her dogs, Hermes, and dead souls. She is the goddess that troubles the reason of men. The owl is her messenger.

4 Myths of Hecate Hecate helps Demeter look for Persephone after she's been abducted by Hades. Hecate is the one to propose the split of Persephone's time, and follow's Persephone to make certain that the deal is followed.

5 Symbols Candles. Torches. Dark moon. Dogs. Snakes.

6 Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: powerful, wise, physically strong & a defender Weaknesses: She disliked men, she was depicted as ugly at first.

7 Quote From Macbeth It was the owl that shrieked, the fatal bellman,which gives the stern’st good-night. Macbeth, 2. 2 Shakespeare is saying that Hecate’s owl which was her messenger warned her about the death.
