13 Goals for this course Where to find resources & artwork for digital scrapbooking Ways to begin making your own pages Learn some basics in Photoshop Elements Methods for organization & creativity Where and how to share your digital pages Not limited to scrapbook chronologically! Feel free to jump around from one event to the next and one idea to another. If you wish to create a single, cohesive looking album. Then take a few minutes to sketch the concept. (This way you’ll know the papers and artwork you wish to use throughout, keeping the final book more unified.) There are SOOOO many great resources for learning and advancing your scrapbook skills online. Join the online communities, post to your own gallery, and start sharing the love! You’ll probably make some wonderful friends and gain lots of encouragement from others with a passion for digital scrapbooking! Blog challenges often present excellent layout sketches or subjects to generate creativity and interest in digital products. However, many of these challenges can easily be adapted to make awesome pages – and most of the time the templates are completely free. Spend time considering how you would like to represent or tell the story about a specific memory or event that’s important to you.

14 Getting Started Start a scrapbooking journal or calendar to record ideas, layout sketches, and important events Choose a theme, event, or day-in-the-life subject to scrap Determine the desired page size Select digital design method Get to it! Show my scrapbooking journals – how some contain sketches, written notes, quotes from family members, and even clips from magazines or articles.

15 A Scrapbooking Journal?
Anything will do, but keep it handy. Regular paper notebooks, index cards, blank books, or something fancier Find a method that works for you to record the things that matter most and do it! Lack inspiration and need ideas? Browse a craft magazine or blog with your journal in hand – take notes on things you like.

16 Choosing a Theme or Subject
Scrap whatever you’re feeling Out of ideas, inspiration failing? Browse online to “scrap-lift and twist” into a new layout Try blog challenges for new ideas and techniques Focus on a specific memory or event Not limited to scrapbook chronologically! Feel free to jump around from one event to the next and one idea to another. If you wish to create a single, cohesive looking album. Then take a few minutes to sketch the concept. 17 Determine Page Size 12 x 12 8 x 8 8.5 x 11 7 x 9 5 x 7
Today, it’s possible to have something printed in just about any size. If you’d like to print final pages for insertion in a scrapbook album, then you’ll probably wish to go with the page sizes that are compatible for 8x8, 8.5 x 11, and 12 x 12 sizes. Many people also prefer to print scrapbooks on their home printer. For pages like this, you’ll need to stick to sizes that don’t exceed the regular size of standard U.S. letter paper. Popular for printing at home. Best for professional printing.
