1 JUMPING BIOMECHANICS AMONG ELITE HANDBALL FEMALE ATHLETES WITH OR WITHOUT PREVIOUS ACL RECONSTRUCTION. AN INERTIAL SENSOR BASED STUDY Igor Setuain1, Nora Millor1,, Esteban Gorostiaga1, Mikel Izquierdo3. Jesús Alfaro-Adrián2 1Research, Studies and Sport Medicine Center, Government of Navarre, Spain 2 San Miguel Clinic, Department of Orthopedics, Pamplona, Spain 3Public University of Navarre, Department of Health Sciences, Spain It´s well known that.. ACL injury is more common in females than males (0.82 vs 0.31 per 1000 playing hours) (Olsen et al 2004, Strand et al 1990). Persisting strength and neuromuscular control deficits have been observed (Zazulak et al 2007, Myer et al 2006, Myklebust et al 2005)

2 OBJECTIVE To describe jumping performance and basic biomechanics in a group of professional female handball players To identify possible differences between previously ACL reconstructed and uninjured extremities, using an ISU METHODS 21 female elite handball athletes (6 reconstructed and 15 non-ACL injured controls) VBDJ. 2 famil reps / 2 testing reps ISU . 3 orthogonal axis peak accel / jump phases duration

3 MAIN RESULTS VBDJ Correlations:
(X-) mediolateral peak accel Jump phases duration (Y-) anteroposterior peak accel Correlations: Significant {(p< 0.05); (r= -0.5)} P phase (Z-) peak accel / P phase time duration among both non ACL injured athletes and previously ACL reconstructed cases {(p< 0.05); (r= -0.68)}

4 DISCUSSION & CONCLUSSION
Jumping performance atenuation is present in the previously ACL reconstructed analyzed population (Setuain et al 2014) The reported elevated peak acceleration values in both axis could potentially contribute to increase the reinjury risk for both reconstructed or contralateral leg (Paterno et al 2010) Inertial sensor units (ISUs) provides the chance for measuring jumping biomechanical and performance variables in a simple way at the clinical setting (Dowling et al 2012) Thank you!!
