1 Mic signal to Protools track

2 Choose a mic, pop it on a stand, attach an XLR lead
This is a condenser mic which is good for vocals or guitar. The ‘pop filter’ is only necessary for singers who have loud P sounds

3 Plug the other end of the lead into the wallplate
In this case the lead is going into AV wallplate, into input 2

4 Find the corresponding patch
Find the corresponding patch. Notice this is also wallplate AV room and input 2. Wallpate AV Input 2

5 Look below and patch the same colour to the Protools input
Look below and patch the same colour to the Protools input. Choose an input. Protools- so this connects to the software Input 2 chosen, any number is ok

6 The sound travels through the ADAT
The audio goes through the ADAT Machine. The Gain level can be adjusted here. The sound travels through the ADAT

7 Now look at the truck you wish to record too
Now look at the truck you wish to record too. You will look for the I are above the panning pot.

8 Now the input has to be selected, in this case it was from input 2 and from the ADAT machine

9 Once selected the input should clearly state ‘ADAT 2’

10 To enable recording you must click the record enable button on the correct track.

11 You will have to mute the sound to the speakers to avoid feedback at this point

12 Make sure you have headphones connected to the head phone amp so the singer or guitar player can hear accompanying parts all the click track
