2 Acts 13:44-48 44 The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord. 45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming. 46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. 47 “For so the Lord has commanded us, 'I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.'“ 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

3 Acts 13:49-52 49 And the word of the Lord was being spread through the whole region. 50 But the Jews incited the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. 51 But they shook off the dust of their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

4 what God has done to defeat the impact and influence of sin, Satan and even death itself through the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ on the cross; and that forgiveness of sin is found by believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

5 The Word of God proclaimed invites curiosity (Acts 13:44)
“The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.”

6 Matthew 13:3-4, 19 “Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.” “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.”

7 The Word of God proclaimed invites criticism (Acts 13:45-47)
45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming. 46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. 47 “For so the Lord has commanded us, 'I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.'“

8 The Word of God proclaimed invites conversion (Acts 13:48)
When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. In salvation there is both a HUMAN and a DIVINE dynamic: The human dynamic: “believe” The Divine dynamic: “appoint”

9 2 Timothy 2:8-10 8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, 9 for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned. 10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

10 The Word of God proclaimed invites conflict (Acts 13:49-52)
49 And the word of the Lord was being spread through the whole region.
