2. BRIM Structure Data
BRIM is responsible for the management of a property insurance program for state owned structures.
In addition, BRIM insures fixtures such as fences, towers, signs, bleachers, etc. under the property policy if those items are reported to BRIM and coverage is requested by the agency.
For this reason, BRIM is one source of information relating to state owned property.

3. BRIM Structure Data
What structure data is reported by agencies? Some examples of reported data include:
Structure name
Structure county/address
Type of Building
Certain structure attributes, e.g. sprinklers, alarms, etc.
Structure Use
Year of Construction
Structure insured value

4. BRIM Structure Data Parameters of BRIM Structure Data
Data relates to BRIM property insurance program only.
Data reflects only those structures that are reported to it by state agencies.
Current technology system is an annual snapshot of agency property that changes every year.

5. BRIM Vacant Land Survey
Agencies are not required to report vacant land to BRIM because it is insured for liability coverage only.
But timing was right for a Vacant Land Survey: BRIM is developing a new technology system that will accommodate more detailed data than current system.
The Vacant Land Survey was done simultaneously with normal renewal questionnaire process.
The Vacant Land Survey also dovetailed with this Legislative study topic, thereby providing another source of information on state owned land.

6. BRIM Vacant Land Survey
The Vacant Land Survey asked agencies to provide certain information regarding vacant land by October 6, 2017.
“Vacant land” was defined in the survey as land without a structure or fixture.

7. BRIM Vacant Land Survey
For each vacant parcel, agencies were asked to provide name or lot number, legal address, county, acreage, land value, and the current use of the vacant land.

8. BRIM Vacant Land Survey
Currently, 159 agencies have responded to the Vacant Land Survey. As of , nine responses are still outstanding.
Several state agencies did provide data on vacant land. Twenty-four agencies reported a total of 452 properties as a result of this survey.

9. BRIM Structure Data and Vacant Land Survey
In addition to the Vacant Land Survey, agencies were also asked to review their current structure data and update, delete or modify the data, and to return a certification of the accuracy of the structure data.
Agencies were reminded to list unoccupied structures in the current structure listing.

10. BRIM Structure Data and Vacant Land Survey
Overall, BRIM is pleased with the responses to the Vacant Land Survey.
BRIM staff will continue to follow up with the agencies not yet responding to the Vacant Land Survey.
