C13 Test Status C13 Preliminary Matrix Observations. Good repeatability on some oils Discrimination on some parameters Three PC-10 oils showing acceptable performance Statistical Analysis show C13 behavior comparable to SCOTE data. Laboratory Effects Oil Effects (Base Oil, Additive)

5 Possible Pass/Fail Parameters Oil Consumption TLHC TGC TGF
C13 Status Conclusions Possible Pass/Fail Parameters Oil Consumption TLHC TGC TGF Limits and Pass/Fail Criteria will be decided after completion of matrix and to best Protect OEMs needs

6 SCOTE Status A) NEW 1P LINERS: graphite flake pullout issue
Continuing to have problems with graphite pullout in bore of SCOTE liner that is not an issue for current production liners. Going into trials at Tech Center with older honing stone technology to see if a less aggressive process will improve the quality. If this is successful in bringing the surface void count and area down to SCOTE requirements, then we can install these stones directly onto the hones at the supplier and start producing what should be good liners. Looking at mid-October time frame for delivery of liners for initial lab tests, though timeline is in flux because several steps must take place to meet the goal. Labs need to start talking about how many stands each lab will contribute and all the little details of how decisions will be made. B) 1P THRUST BEARING CHANGE: Copper content is lower & hardness is higher Want S.P. to approve change to new bearing being released by Mossville. McCord didn't think that the thrust bearing wears much and is generally only replaced at each full engine rebuild before a reference run - SCOTE's don't get disassembled fully for each test, only the jug and head are pulled. Jim McCord didn't think a small change in copper concentration in the oil would have a significant effect on ratings for the 1P. Copper is lower and hardness is higher with the new bearing. May be several months before the bearing change will take place, but need panel approval to make switch to new p/n at each stand's next reference test once the bearing is available.

7 SCOTE Status C)1P/1R OIL FILTER: Two different filters are under the same part number. 1R-0713 EC07 (old) ml 1R-0713 EC08 (new) ml Labs can debate the volume change's effect but we are stuck with this filter. If volume is a big deal, maybe the labs should specify a spacer or extra line length that will make up for the difference. D) 1MPC LINER (5H5657): Dealers are currently out of stock, so, any new purchase should yield a newly manufactured liner (delivery date???). Cat is expecting mid-to-late September availability. E) ANY NEW REFERENCE DATA ON THE CAT 1N/1K: Decision on industry correction factor is pending due to lack of data. My opinion is that we need to push for a higher correction factor that is closer to what is indicated by the data we have, rather than accomodate a moderate correction factor that all labs would be happy to accept. F) NEW TEST STAND CRITERIA (LTMS): Should the criteria for a new test stand be modified for the older test types?? No opinion at this time.
