Aims of the Trip Benefits of the trip To visit Normandy and study its history and culture and engage in the language and customs of the locals The students to conduct interviews/conversations in the native tongue through the visits and onsite activities we organise in the Château To discover, explore and have fun with new friends To enable students to have an educational, enjoyable and memorable experience abroad Educational First-hand experience of language, culture and history Personal An experience of being away from home: personal organisation, co-operating & working with others in a variety of environments Enjoyment Making new friends and forming strong bonds with classmates Development An experience which can broaden the mind and inspire future trips and study options

5 Pre-Travel Every child needs a European Health Card – this provides them with free medical care if needed whilst in France. These are free – only use the official website to apply as some sites do charge. Every child needs a valid passport. This should have at least 3 months until the expiry at the time of travel. The name on the passport must exactly match the name on the ticket to gain entry therefore please advise us if the name is different before the official list is sent on 13th November. If your child does not have a British passport please inform us as they may require a visa. We will be applying for a group passport.

6 Travel We will be travelling on a coach to Folkestone, this will take around 6 hours. We will get the Ferry from Folkestone to Calais, this will take around 1.5hours. We will then get a coach from Calais to Normandy, this will take around 4 hours.

10:20 Arrive Folkestone and check-in for your crossing 11:20 Depart Folkestone 12:55 Arrive Calais 18:30 Arrive Chateau and check-in Dinner in Chateau Sat 24th March Breakfast in Chateau 08:30 Depart Chateau for day’s activities 09:15 – 10:00 Bayeux Tapestry Bayeux Market Assignment 12:00 Return to Chateau to prepare your lunches 13:30 Depart Chateau for Caramel Factory (around40mins from Chateux) 14:00 – 16:00 Caramel Factory Chateau Crepe Night Sun 25th March Breakfast in Chateau (collect your packed lunches) 08:15 Check-out and depart Chateau 13:50 Arrive Calais and check-in for crossing 14:50 Depart Calais 14:25 Arrive Folkestone (local time) 22:00 Approximate arrival time a school

8 Accommodation – Château du Molay, Normandy
Map of the area Information We will be exploring Normandy from Travel bounds exclusive property - The Château du Molay. The Château is 14kms from Bayeux and within easy reach of the world famous Calvados coast In addition to excellent on-site activities and language learning opportunities, the children will be visiting a French Market and caramel factory to lean more about the French culture.

10 Accommodation – Château du Molay, Normandy
In the student rooms there are between 4 and 10 beds. These are a mixture of single beds and bunk beds. All children will be in single sex rooms. All children and teachers will be staying in the main building at the Château. All rooms have en-suites.

11 Facilities of The Château du Molay
Photos Description The Château Classroom Our classroom is at your disposal for meetings, lessons and presentations. A range of teaching aids, including white-board and flip-chart, allow classes to take place in a comfortable and educational environment Games Room Everyone needs a break and our games room is perfect for spending a few moments battling aliens, playing pool or table football. This is not an ‘adult free zone’ and beating the top score on the driving game is a must for competitive party leaders Sports facilities Lovers of 5-a-side football, tennis and basketball will be in their element at the Château multipurpose sports court. The beautiful green grass of our full-size rugby and football pitch is also available for afternoon sporting purposes

12 Catering Breakfast – buffet of cereal, croissants, pain au chocolat, cheese, boiled eggs, bread, jams/spreads, fruit and hot chocolate. Packed lunch – baguette with different fillings each day, crisps, cake, fruit and a bottle of water. Dinner – 2 course evening meal, served on platters on the tables for children to help themselves. The Château have been made aware of dietary needs and are providing vegetarian options. If you child has any allergies that school are unaware of, we must be made aware before the final trip forms are sent on Monday, 13th November.

13 Staying Safe All parts of the trip have been assessed and the Château have up-to-date policies and procedures relating to the following: risk assessments staff to pupil ratios operating procedures staff vetting and training site security first aid procedures emergency procedures As always, safety is our first priority. We ask for your cooperation on this and will be asking children to follow our instructions at all times. Insurance is included within the trip.

14 Keeping in touch Updates will be posted via our Facebook page and via text if needed. Signal and Wi-fi at the Château can be unreliable. A school mobile number and landline for the Château will be available to you in the event of an emergency. If we have any worries we will contact you. We will have all emergency contact details with us at all times.

15 Payment Schedule Thank-you to everyone who has paid their £40 deposit and £60 instalment. The final instalment of £99 will be due before the Christmas holidays. Please keep an eye on the newsletter for any additional information.

16 Other points - On the day of travel, children will need a packed lunch and snacks. It is a long day of travelling therefore we ask that you keep sugary snacks very limited – we do not want children feeling sick on the journey. Children can bring a maximum of £20 in Euros. There is a tuck shop on site and a small gift shop at the caramel factor. This must be clearly labelled and will be looked after by the teachers. We will do a document check before the trip. Please refer to the newsletters for more information on this. A suggested packing list will be provided nearer the time.
