The Ottoman empire was formed by Osman the First in asia minor during the collapse of the Seljuk empire.
The Ottomans absorbed and conquered other small states and expanded their empire until they covered most of southeast Europe up to Vienna (Yapp).

Stretched into the Balkan region, North Africa, and throughout the Middle East (About).

The Ottomans’ involvement in World War I ended with the monarchy being dissolved and replaced by the Republic of Turkey (Saylor).
