1 How to Fix the Automatic Repair Loop in Windows 8.1

2 Practical example: While working on my Windows 7 I thought to upgrade it to Windows 8.1. Everything was going smooth but as I made the reboot, Windows 8 got stuck in automatic repair loop. It displayed the log file which is located in C:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt and repair isn’t working.

3 How to fix? Solution 1: This solution helps you to disable automatic repair from getting started if your system fails to boot into windows. All you need –Windows 8 or 8.1 CD Step 1: Put the CD in your drive and proceed to Boot. Step 2: When installation screen pop-up look and choose “Repair Your Computer”.

4 Step 3: You will find the screen that will prompt
“Choose an option”. Choose “Troubleshoot”, then move to “Advanced Options”, and finally move to “Command Prompt”. Step 4: Now you will see the command prompt. Type “bcdedit” and hit on enter. Step 5: You will find a list in the top you will see “resumeobject”. Now copy the number, including the brackets.

5 Step 6: Type “bcdedit /set (the number you
copied) recovery enabled No”. Hit enter. Step 7: You will now find a message “The operation completed successfully” Step 8: Now Type “Exit” Step 9: Reboot your computer. Hope everything works well Note: Use every command without quotes

6 Solution 2: Boot into the safe mode first, and then reboot your system. You are landed on a screen that will says “Windows did not load properly”. Step 1: Choose “Advanced repair options”

7 Step 2: Now choose “Troubleshoot”
Step 3: After this move to “Advanced Options” Step 4: Choose “Start up settings” Step 5: Now “Restart”

8 Step 6: While restarting your system hit the 4
key to move into the safe mode. Step 7: Now you will be able to log in and restart and boot your computer normally. Note: Use every command without quotes

9 Solution 3: Run check disk to find if the hard drive is the problem
What you will need – A Windows 8 or 8.1 CD Step 1: Place the CD in your drive and proceed to boot from it. Step 2: When the install screen pops up, look to the left and choose “Repair Your Computer”.

10 Step 3: You will now find a screen which says
“Choose an option”. Choose “Troubleshoot”, then “Advanced Options”, and finally move to “Command Prompt”. Step 4: Type “chkdsk/r C:” Step 5: It will take several hours depending on your hard drive size. Step 6: Once the scan gets over type “exit”. Step 7: Reboot your computer. Hope everything works well. Note: Use every command without quotes

11 Solution 4: Ensure that your hard drive is in boot priority.
Step 1: Boot into BIOS on your operating System. Step 2: Move to boot priority list. Step 3: If you find “Windows Boot Manager” as number 1 in the priority list, change it so that hard drive stands in number 1.

12 Step 4: Now save and exit BIOS. Step 5: Reboot your computer
Step 4: Now save and exit BIOS. Step 5: Reboot your computer. Hope everything works well.

13 Alternative option: For a non-technical user may this solutions seems to be hectic. Thus for them an easy automatic solution is recommended, i.e. a tool that can repair all errors in the system.
