2 What is Domestic Violence?
- Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner.

3 Physical Abuse The use of physical force against someone in a way that injures or may put that person in danger. Examples : Kicking, throwing, holding down, breaking objects around spouse.

4 Verbal/Emotional Abuse

9 Domestic Violence Statistics
in Utah (34%) have experienced Emotional abuse during the past year. Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten. Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been abused by their spouse had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.
