Sola Gratia Only Grace – Grace is unmerited favor, the power of God. No one can get saved by good works. We are saved by the power and favor of God through Jesus’ death in our place.

Sola Fide Only Faith – Trusting Christ for salvation. Not through works or payments.
Sola Scriptura Only Scripture – The Bible, the Word of God, is our only authority. (Our #1 Point in our Statement of Faith)

I Peter 1:22-25 Summary … you’ve purified your souls through your spirit being born again by the word of God.
I Peter 2:1- “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.”

All Malice – a wicked disposition. Negative attitude.
All Deceit – baiting people. Manipulating and taking advantage of people.
Hypocrisy – Being two faced, masking.

Envy – Being mad or jealous when someone else gets something good, and being glad at someone’s misfortune.
All Evil Speaking – slander or putting people down.
To get rid of these things you need to grow spiritually. The only way to do that is read God’s Word the Bible.

Pure – adolon. “a” without “dolon” – deceit. God’s Word is without deceit. It doesn’t bait you with falsehood.

Spiritual – logikon (from which we get our English word “logical”). God’s Word is logical. Divinely reasonable. The Bible is truly intellectual

You don’t have to start at the beginning. The Bible is composed of 66 different books. There are 39 in the Old Testament (before Jesus) and 27 in the New Testament.

Pick a book like the Gospel of John and read it all the way through, a little at a time. John has 21 chapters. You can read each chapter in about 5 minutes.
Pray before and after you read.
Read a little EVERY day.
