2 VCAL – What is it? VCAL is the hands-on option for year 11 and 12 students, offering practical work-related experience and learning. There are 3 levels of VCAL, Foundation, Intermediate and Senior. Like VCE, the VCAL is an accredited Senior Secondary qualification. Students typically start VCAL in Year 11 or 12, and may also do a part-time apprenticeship or traineeship at the same time. A VCAL Qualification is usually completed in one year, but can also be stretched over longer time frames. It is offered in Victoria only.
