4 CAUSES OF FASCISM Great Depression: economic problems, inflation, affect Italy & Germany Fear of Communism: workers begin to mimic Russia’s revolution; industry owners join Fascist party to preserve private business Appeal to Nationalism: Italy & Germany felt embarrassed after WW I; wanted rebuild nations to “former glory” Lack of government: Treaty of Versailles “forces” democracy on Germany; Germans unused to democratic process
