A movie theater needed 71 popcorn buckets. If each package has 5 buckets in it, how many packages will they need to buy? ÷ 5 = 14 r1 What is the question? They need 71 buckets, how many packages of 5 buckets do they have to buy to get AT LEAST 71 buckets? The answer is 14 r 1… 14 packages will have 70 buckets, but we still need ONE more Therefore, we will need to buy 15 packages in order to have enough buckets.

Evan has to sell 91 chocolate bars to win a trip. If each box contains 9 chocolate bars, how many boxes will he need to win the trip? 91 ÷ 9 = 10 r1 Evan needs to sell 91 chocolate bars. If he sells 10 boxes with 9 bars in each he will have sold 90 bars. Therefore, he must sell another bar from another box. SO… he will need 11 boxes, but he will only have to sell 1 from the 11th box.

How many more pictures would they need to make sure each exhibit had the same amount? ÷ 8 = 10 r2 If 8 the museum put 82 pictures into 8 exhibits, there would be 10 pictures in each. Because there are 2 pictures left over, they need to find 8 more pictures (for a total of 10) to make another equal exhibit.

This is the cost of tickets per ride. This is the number of times you can ride.

There are 81 students going to a trivia competition. If each school van can hold 5 students, how many vans will they need? ÷ 5 = 16 r1 You need one more Van! This is the total number of students This shows that ONE student will not have ride! This is how many vans will be FULL (5 students in each) This is the number each van can hold.

A cafeteria was putting milk cartons into stacks. They had 66 cartons and were putting them into stacks with 4 cartons in each sack. How many full stacks could they make? ÷ 4 = 16 r2
