Dear Colleague,
My hearty greetings to you and your family on the occasion of Hindu Nav Varsh and Chaitra Navratri. I congratulate BPSCL Parivar for an impressive performance of the company during the year The major achievements during the year have been as follows:
Safety & House Keeping
Achieved zero reportable accident in the year.
Medical check-up for 1500 nos. Employees and contract workers has been carried out for the compliance of Supreme Court guidelines on Silicosis disease based on DGFASLI recommendations.
The House keeping has been improved in all the areas and efforts are on to obtain 5-S certification for all the plant.
The plant entrance has been given a face lift with an attractive name plate.
Plant Performance
Best daily generation of 240 MW achieved for the day 2nd March,2017
Best monthly generation of 215 MW achieved for March,2017
Cost of Power (excluding cost of gases) reduced from Rs to Rs. 3.95
Maintenance & Repairs
Repair and re-commissioning of TG2 successfully completed and TG2 synchronised on
Capital Repair of Boiler-8, Medium repair of TG#8 and TG#6 done in June 2016 and July 2016 respectively.
Cost Reduction
With close monitoring and control, the demurrages in coal rake movement brought down by 9 Crores in
Third party coal coordination has been given to SAIL CCSO in line with other captive power plants of SAIL thereby saving about Rs.3.0 Cr being spent on a private agency.
The expenditure on Stores & Spares decreased by 30 % (approx)over last year
Scrap disposed off through MMTC to generate a revenue of Rs Lakhs.

Environment
Dry Fog Dust Suppression System for CHP commissioned on
Laying of Water Sprinkling systems in and around CHP for dust suppression by using scrap tubes.
Brick making machine installed on and nos. bricks manufactured without engaging any additional manpower.
About 68,000 cum of Pond Ash was utilised for in Chas-Ramnagar Highway construction.
CSR Activites
Under CSR, Rs 100 Lakhs has been spent as against an amount of Rs. 54 lakhs spent during the last year.
The major CSR activities include :
Medical Check-up in the peripheral villages by operating Mobile Medical Unit.
Installation of 3 nos. Water Filter & Vending Machines at BGH and Govt Hospitals.
Financial Assistance to Kendriya Vidyalaya Building renovation
Financial Assistance to Ashalata Vikalang Vikas Kendra for furniture and to sponsor Annual Fee for 50 nos. Students
Contribution to Government of India Swatch Bharat Kosh
Major Projects undertaken for performance improvement
Extension of BF gas line to Unit-9 to utilise LD gas to be made available from BSL
R&M of Boiler-1
Installation of Side-Stream Filter for TG 6,7,8 Turbines
Replacement of 100 ata Steam lines.
HRIS and Website management
Diversification into Solar Power
2 x 50 KWp Roof-top solar PV units installed on BPSCL plant buildings in July’ The cumulative generation from these units for the year is KWh.
The tendering for 39 nos. roof-top solar units on BSL buildings with a total capacity of 2.0MWp at a cost of about Rs Cr. is complete.
Obtained clearance from SAIL to go for a 20.0MWp Solar PV plant in BSL township at an estimated cost of Rs Cr.
Motivation of Employees
Employees Suggestion Scheme introduced on 1st June,2016 and 25 nos. Innovative suggestions received. An amount of Rs has been disbursed as reward.
101st Board of Directors meeting has been organised in Bokaro on and the Directors interacted directly with the cross section of our employees.

Dear Colleague, I believe each one of our BPSCL Parivar including the contract workers has contributed to this performance and my special mention to dedicated efforts by our operating personnel working round the clock in the Boiler & Turbine and Electrical control rooms, Coal Handling Plant, RCPH and other operational areas of the plant.
As we enter into the year , we should take a pledge to improve our performance in all spheres of operation & maintenance to scale new heights and to fulfil our APP Targets with SAIL-BSL with 215 MW of power and Tons/hr of process steam with a commitment of power cost at Rs per unit ( excluding gases).
