Direct democracy A democracy in which the power to govern lies directly in the hands of the people rather than being exercised through their representatives.

Direct democracy: problem
Any voter could speak in the Assembly and vote on laws. Too many voters were persuaded by powerful speakers to vote unwisely, and the voters often voted to change the laws too often.
