Rebellion against Catholicism in England began in 1527 with Henry the VIII Who remembers why? Due to this fact English Puritans and non-Anglicans faced prejudice and legal harassment. Religious groups immigrate to the colonies to find religious freedom. Ex: Pilgrims, Quakers, etc.

4 Economic Changes Mercantilism
A country’s power is directly correlated with their wealth/ Colonies = wealth 1. A large demand for wool to make clothes causes many landowners to evict their tenants to raise sheep. Many are left homeless and destitute. 2. The rising population caused a concern. Many believed colonies would provide land and work to the unemployed.
