30 premature patients
Without ocular malformations
< 32 weeks of gestational age ( Capurro- Dubowitz)
IGF-1 serum level with IRMA kit en ng/ml
At 32nd. and 34th. weeks
First cerebral ultrasound at third day

• Threshold disease
(current treatment indication):
Any stage in Zone I with Plus
Stage 3 extending over =5 contiguous or 8 non-contiguous
clock hours in conjunction plus disease in Zone II

18. Conclusion
These results may suggest that the low increasing percentage of serum IGF-I concentrations between 32nd. and 34th. weeks of GA in prematures would be associated with later development of threshold ROP. Further studies would be needed to support this hypothesis.
