MAILING ADDRESSES Learning Target: Students will be able to organize a mailing address using US Postal guidelines. * Entrance Ticket #1: Create a mailing address from the paragraph description provided.

Things You Need to Know BEFORE you write a mailing address:
Names of People Include a person’s title AND first AND last name. What is a title? Examples? Mr. (used for all males) Miss (unmarried female) Mrs. (married female (sometimes widowed, divorced) Ms. (adult female, unknown status) Used by females who prefer a neutral title (similar to Mr. for males) Sometimes used when a female is widowed or divorced

Things You Need to Know BEFORE you write a mailing address:
Street Address Line Street Addresses may use words other than “Street”. Examples? Drive, Road, Boulevard, Avenue, Circle A street address usually has a number before the street name. Use a street address when you receive your mail at home. East Main Street, House #12 12 East Main Street Midland Drive, Building number 89 89 Midland Drive If you get your mail at the Post Office, you will use “PO Box” following by the number on the box: PO Box 400

States Abbreviate states using 2 CAPITAL letters New York? VT CO MI MA ** NOTE: Some addresses include a 9-digit zip code. An example would look like this:
