Hurricanes start off near the equator and make their way down to oceans such as the Indian Ocean, and Western South Pacific Ocean.
Hurricanes can also accrue on land but not toward the middle.

Knock out power.
Cause a flash flood.

Turn off all electricity, water, and gas in your home.
