2 How are Hurricanes formed?
Hurricanes are formed over stretches of water that is warmed by the summer sun. The water vapor condenses and forms storm clouds. Those thunderstorms start spinning around each other to form a tropical depression. If the tropical depression keeps growing, it is given a name and it is classified as a tropical storm. If it still keeps growing, it is now a hurricane and given a category. They are down below: Category 1 Category 2 Category 3 Category 4 Category 5 Wind speed 74-95 mph mph mph mph > 175 mph Damage Mild Medium Signifcant Terrible Catastrophic

-65 people dead, 25,000 people left homeless -Occurred in August 1992 (Hit Southern Florida on August 24) -The worst of the storm hit Dode County (now Miami-Dode County) -Was a tropical wave, hit at 5:00 am -Sustianed wind speeds of 135 mph ( it got up to 175 mph!) -100,000 homes suffered damage -26 billion dollars in damage
