2. What can I expect from the S3 course?
The S3 German course will include a balance of the four skills of
Listening, Talking, Reading and Writing in the target Language.
Pupils in S3 will be given opportunities to apply prior learning from S1 and S2 in new contexts as well as further increase their competence in the skills of listening and talking, reading and writing.

3. Which topics will be covered?
Topics covered will include …
discussing a holiday in the past
planning a trip
impressions and aspects of other countries
media and literature of another country
studying a film in the foreign language

4. What will be the main focus of the S3 course?
In S3 we devote our main focus on…
pronouncing words
speaking to each other using our basic German knowledge from S1 and S2
We will also make sure, that you are aware of why it is rewarding to learn a foreign language!

5. Why speaking a foreign language?
Speaking will make you aware of why you actually learn a foreign language as you are now able to use it!
You are able to communicate with people from abroad when on holidays
You are able to work abroad for a year or longer in the future!
Your fluency in German and your pronunciation will be improved
You will be in advantage when you can put a foreign language on your CV for your future job!

6. What are the outcomes of the S3 course?
During the S3 course you will…

Assessment:
Assessment in S3 will consist of a combination of tasks:
Pupils will be assessed in how…
well they work in groups and collaboratively as well as in class tests. In addition, students will be required to do two Speaking and two Written assessments in S3.

8. Homework:
Parents/carers can ensure that homework is completed by checking pupils’ homework diaries. If learners have access to the Internet at home they could spend some time on recommended websites to build up vocabulary and improve reading skills.
Homework may involve the completion of class work, specific worksheets, vocabulary learning or the memorising of short items of prepared material. Pupils are expected to go over at home new words and phrases met in class.
