3 Question How much work does a 150-pound man accomplish by climbing a 25-foot flight of stairs? Work through the equation with your partner. work = 150 lbs. x 25 ft work = 3,750 ft-lbs

4 Hp=weight(lbs)xdistance(ft)/sec x 550
Measuring Power Power is work done over a certain period of time. Measure of power is HP (horsepower). Horsepower is energy needed to lift 550 lbs in one second. Hp=weight(lbs)xdistance(ft)/sec x 550

5 Question Same Example of man climbing stairs, how many horsepower would he develop in 15 seconds? hp = 150 lbs x 25ft/15 sec x 550 Hp = 0.45
