4 UCF’s ARC (Automated Retrieval Center) WILL BE READY FOR BOOK INGESTION Dec. 2017
Construction of a four-story ARC (automated retrieval center) is taking place on the Student Union side of the Main Library building. The ARC will house 1.25 million volumes of the library’s print collection, placed in bins three stories high, for retrieval by 5 robotic cranes. Books can be requested with A click of a button from the online catalog. Each volume will be available for pickup in minutes. Transferring books into the ARC will free up space for up to 1,600 additional user seats .
