2. Our Mission
Message in a Bottle is an art and education event produced by the San Francisco Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation to educate people of all ages about ocean pollution and ocean plastic pollution. After two incredibly successful years in small locations we are moving the event into the old Exploratorium building at the Palace of Fine Arts this coming February.
More plastic than ever is entering our ocean even though many organizations have been working hard to communicate the harm plastic has on the ocean and marine life. We know that by working with schools, teachers, students and their families, we can harness their enthusiasm for protecting the environment and animals by creating art which addresses this issue.

3. The Show
Our event series kicks off Friday night with a grand opening, packed with art collectors, local government officials, environmentalists, the SF nightlife community - and the press. The past two years our opening event has been beyond crowded and we expect ,200 people to attend the opening in February.
Day Two is a Student Appreciation Party – we invite all Bay Area schools, kids and their families, along with the public, to celebrate the accomplishments of the K-12 artists who are participating in the show. The day will include film screenings, special speakers and giveaways for the kids.
Day Three is an open house and craft day for the San Francisco community and beyond. Come make art with plastic found at beach cleanups, plant succulents in found objects, learn more about the animals living in our local waterways and on our local beaches.

4. Participation
We are reaching out to local corporate and retail partners we have connections with to support Message in a Bottle.
Your company has done beach clean ups with us or works on local projects to eliminate environmental waste.
You support K-12 education programs
You offer a product or service and are looking for a way to share information on what you do or what you make with this community
You employ people looking for volunteer opportunities or to get involved in community advocacy
You support the arts and love the ocean - you are a great partner!

5. Sponsorship Levels…
We are exited to be hosting the event in a beautiful and honestly, huge, space. We are inviting partners from Cal Academy, the Exploratorium, The Marine Mammal Center and many more to create large scale education areas for this year’s event. One of these is a reproduction of the Pacific Gyre. We need your sponsorship to support their efforts and cover our overhead costs. All of our labor is volunteer-based and all costs are for art installation and venue overhead.
Humpback Whale Sponsor – $50,000 includes an area of the show designated with your company name, including a branded “photo spot”, a VIP table for up to 12 in the VIP exclusive area, top billing in all press as a lead sponsor, large logo on event poster and other communications, mentions in press as a lead sponsor, your logo on our Klean Kanteen pint cups, t-shirts, and other online communications and your name / logo on event signage
Whale Shark Sponsor – $20,000 includes an area of the show designated with your company name, including a branded “photo spot”, a VIP table for up to 8 in the VIP exclusive area, 2nd tier billing in all press, large logo on event poster and other communications, your logo on our Klean Kanteen pint cups, t-shirts, and other online communications and your name / logo on event signage

6. ...Sponsorship Levels
Leatherback Sponsor – $10,000 includes an art or education installation designated with your company name and a branded “photo spot”, a VIP table for up to 6 people in the VIP exclusive area, billing in press as a sponsor, logo on event poster and other communications and your name / logo on event signage
Bottlenose Dolphin Sponsor – $5,000 includes you in a shared area of other sponsors in your level which will host interesting and thought-provoking exhibits. VIP tickets to the exclusive area for 4 people and your logo on event poster and in other communications, mention in press as a sponsor, and your name / logo on event signage
Pteropod Sponsor – $1,000 The beautiful and endangered Pteropod is our mascot for this year’s show. This level includes your company name on signage at the entrance, VIP tickets for 2 people and your logo on event poster and in other communications along with the knowledge that you are helping Pteropods, a beautiful and endangered plankton.
